Sunset Hill Farm is a beautiful, world-class equestrian facility
located in Woodbine (Howard County), Maryland. Before the turn of
the 20th century, the land was originally an agricultural property
for farming sheep, corn, and soybeans. Jerry Hoffberger, former
owner of the Baltimore Oriole's, purchased the farm in the early
1970's. It was at this time that Sunset Hill Farm was born and
became a state-of-the-art Thoroughbred facility.
Throughout the 1970's and 80's, the Farm bred Thoroughbreds that
went on to race in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont. Mr.
Hoffberger created a legacy as he syndicated horse racing in Howard
County Maryland and the entire Nation. He sold the Farm in 1989. For
the next 15 years the Farm fell into disrepair and deterioration. In
2005, Mr. Patrick McCuan and McCuan Farms, LLC purchased the
property and renamed it Sunset Hill Farm.
On
this beautiful 117-acre piece of ground, McCuan Farms, LLC has
totally renovated every structure and field to bring the farm today
beyond its original grandeur. With a friendly, experienced staff
providing superior care, Sunset Hill Farm has once again created an
equestrian opportunity for riders of all ages and levels. Sunset
Hill at McCuan Farms is truly a World Class Equestrian Facility.
